Iran committed to Olympics principles: Khosravi Vafa
TEHRAN – Head of Iran’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa during meeting with President of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach said they are committed to Olympics principles.
Khosravi Vafa has traveled to Seoul, South Korea to participate at the 26th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).
Seoul is currently hosting the 26th General Assembly of ANOC, which runs until Friday, and the city government aims to use the event as a springboard for its 2036 bid.
Khosravi Vafa, who was elected as new head of Iran’s NOC, talked to Bach in his visit to Seoul on Wednesday.
In this meeting, Bach emphasized the support of the Iran’s National Olympic Committee in accordance with the principles of the Olympic Charter.
Khosravi Vafa also said Iran, like before, is committed to the IOC’s principles.
The ANOC General Assembly is a meeting of representatives of 205 National Olympic Committees around the globe. The event this year is expected to invite some 800 people including officials from the ANOC, as well as sports leaders from around the world.
The ANOC meeting is sometimes referred to as the United Nations General Assembly of the sports world.
